Research & Policy Reform
There are hundreds of people around the world working to find ways to put an end to modern slavery. Governments and NGOs have tried a range of different policies and programs that focus on clients, victims or the criminals involved. We believe that Israel should learn from the successes and failures of other nations. That’s why the Task Force engages in extensive research into “best practices” of other countries throughout the globe. That information allows us to make important suggestions on how Israel can improve its policies in the fight against human trafficking.
Research and policy reform is an ongoing process. Here are some examples of TFHT’s ongoing efforts:
- The Task Force maintains a database about what NGOs around the world are doing to end trafficking in their areas.
- Private industries like hotels and newspapers are also involved in the chain of trafficking by providing services to pimps and brothels. With the help of law students, TFHT is exploring ways of discouraging this activity through creative legislative proposals.
- The Task Force gets daily updates on trends and practices throughout the world by participating in international list-serves and chat forums about human trafficking.
